in yih computer cluster again
somehow even though i got my laptop back, it's still so "raw" and unconfigured and stuff that it seems different. not really using it that often anymore. would rather use yih's computers sometimes.

sudden downpour outside.. really heavy.. and it was still bright and sunny before i stepped into the computer cluster..sudden weather changes.. it's a bit weird for april weather too..

just thinking about this probably because watched the day after tommorrow last nite. it's always not good to stay home when i'm supposed to be studying for exams cos there's always some show to watch. and i just can't tear my eyes away and i'll end up watching the whole thing.

it's a good show, really. i din catch it in the cinema last year cos i was studying for exams or something. after exams i din bother to catch it either. but i think the guy acting as Dennis Quaid's(? or Quiad? ha) son really really reminds me of Wang Li Hong. haha.. the face shape maybe? anyway he's quite cute. and the girl he likes is also very cute and pretty looking. and that professor from some center seemed to be the actor for Bilbo Baggins from LOTR. hah.

it wasn't a tear-jerker show for me, but there were a lot of very very interesting points.
how the "tornado" shredded away the hollywood sign (hah.. cheeky director)
how there was a "reversal" of illegal immigration as the Americans flocked to the Mexican border - desperately cutting open the metal fences to wade across the river.
how the president later commented that their residents are now "guests" in what they called "Third World Countries". was thinking - "guests" my foot. refugees you mean.
how the president died when the car he was in was caught in the fatal freezing cold. (i thought that was cheeky too. has any US president ever died from a natural disaster during office term? well at least i dun think the movies ever did such a "drastic" development in plot)
how it was all nicely contrasted - the African American police officer suggesting to the African American teenager (Brian) that someone else should help him fix the radio so they could receive signals or news, and how Brian retorted - "well sir, i'm the president of the electronics club, the science (or math, can't remember) club, and the chess club. if there's a bigger nerd out there, please point him out. " And the other African American was this guy who lived on the streets with his dog which was called Buddha (ha). and at this point in the movie if i remember right, he bursts in to tell everyone in the public library that the other people trapped in buildings were walking out on the "streets", or rather the water that froze over. this nice little arrangement - was it on purpose? hah.
how there's always some heartwarming plot of family ties in adversity (the father coming for the son despite all odds) and even of friendship (the friends of Dennis Quaid who went with him in search of his son though they could have gone with the rest and be safe in Mexico)

okie. gotta go get some serious studying done for now.

i'm having the sniffies.
sniffles. whatever.

how weird.
i go all sniffy when i'm doing my learning module assignment which involves training a virtual rat.
and the rat's name is Sniffy. HAH.

***
i haven't watched many of the computer webcast lectures.
or rather, when i did "watch" it, i mainly listened while i did other stuff (read blogs or something)
but i do remember the lecture complaining that he wanted to call up Dell to fix his laptop (the woes of the spoilt computer/laptop. i can SOOOOO empathize)
and he said somehow he couldn't find the number to call.
it's not listed on their adverts but it is hidden in some obscure corner of their website. hah.
he said he spent quite some time finding it (and when he did find it to call, the person gave him even more problems. HAH. I can soo empathize with that too.)
the weirdest pieces of information i remember..
i dun seem to remember what topic he was lecturing about though. i remember all the useless stuff.
and now as i sit in front of the DELL computer terminal in AS7
(someone managed to get DELL to sponsor all mousepads or something)
on the mousepad reads:
Call DELL today!
www.dell.com/ap
www.dell.com.jp

hmmm
i mean, okie, maybe it's an internationally distributed mousepad and therefore not very feasible to put international numbers on it
but it's just weird to see "Call someone" and the number's not listed.
i mean they could have put "Visit our website today!" or something.
hah.

unbelievable.
my laptop...

IS NOT BACK YET!!!

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

but i think the best way to get me to study
is to take away my laptop
ban me from computer clusters (actually dun need la, considering how packed they are, works almost the same way of keeping me out anyway)

and with nothing else to do,
i actually read.

i read my textbook (fall asleep)
and then i read LOTR
and then i snack
and then i cook dinner
and then i snack as i read my textbook
and then i fall asleep
and then i read LOTR
hah.
yesh... i'm finally starting to read...
the preciousssssssssss classic

less than a month to exams!
and i've still got so many tests to prepare for that it's getting irritating
:(
well hang in there folks, those taking exams..
